Health benefits of pure cacao
Cacao is super high in antioxidants, specifically a group of polyphenol antioxidants called flavonoids AKA anti-inflammatory ninjas.
Cacao rich in theobromine, a natural stimulant very similar to caffeine but without the jittery effects. Caffeine affects the nervous system, hence the anxious feeling many people experience, whereas Theobromine affects the cardiovascular system (that's why they call cacao a heart opener!).
It's high in magnesium, which helps to regulate the release of stress hormones including cortisol, like pressing a brake on your body's nervous system.
Cacao is a great source of dietary fibre, contributing to digestive support.
Cacao is also a great source of zinc and plant-based iron.
